Embark on a 13-week culinary adventure designed specifically for Duke of Edinburgh participants. This course offers students the chance to get started in the kitchen safely, hone their knife skills, and begin to build an impressive repertoire of delicious recipes.

What You'll Experience:

  • Weekly Video Sessions: Each week, you'll gain access to a new set of video-based lessons on our Private Chef Academy platform, guiding you step-by-step through cooking various recipes. Expect 1-2 hours of cooking, including cleanup, per week.

With over 25 years of experience working with kitchens across six continents and teaching cookery for 18 years, Murray's CV is crammed full of cooking and travelling adventures.


Murray's culinary expertise has taken him from renowned restaurants to freelancing in various industry sectors, including small private cruise lines, private yachts, boutique hotels, private villas, and luxury chalets. His clientele has included supermodels, Hollywood actors, and celebrity chefs, further showcasing the calibre of his culinary skills.


As a seasoned culinary instructor, he has had the privilege of mentoring and guiding over 1000 students, helping them unlock their creative potential and develop a deep understanding of the culinary arts. I have a busy schedule; will I have time for this course?

Absolutely! Our course is designed for your convenience. It's online, allowing you to work at your own pace, right from the comfort of your own kitchen.

Is the Private Chef Academy an AAP?

The Duke of Edinburgh scheme has advised us that they are currently not onboarding any more cookery schools into their AAP program at present, however, we are still permitted to offer this course provided we state the following. We will be joining the program as soon as applications open again.

My kitchen is small, and I lack fancy equipment. Can I still participate?

Absolutely! You don't need a lot of equipment. Most tasks can be done with basic kitchen tools. We'll guide you on making the right equipment choices, so you won't waste money on unnecessary gadgets



Kitchen Equipment: You will need a well-stocked kitchen, including at least a double hob (two rings) and an oven, preferably with a grill.


Tech Access: To access course content, a smartphone or tablet is necessary.

I'm not very experienced in cooking. Is this course suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! This is a zero to hero course designed to help school aged students get underway in the kitchen.

I or my friends have various dietary requirements. Can this course accommodate them?

Learning to cook from scratch with real ingredients makes it easier to work around dietary requirements, compared to serving processed food, however. There is one dish to make each week, these dishes make up the course requirement for assessment so unfortunately, the person with the allergy will need to sit that particular dish out.

Is this course suitable for vegetarians?

No, our course covers a wide range of cooking styles and includes meat and fish dishes. It's designed to provide a comprehensive cooking experience across various cuisines.
